The Big Smoke Family channel the funk of the Meters, the Gris-gris of Dr John, and the spirit of the Mardi Gras Indians to create 'Voodoo Funk'

Inspired by New Orleans and made in London, The Big Smoke Family have been filling dance floors across the UK and Europe since 2012.

Following in the footsteps of modern New Orleans funk bands such as Trombone Shorty, Galactic and Cha Wa, The Big Smoke Family fuse new and old traditions with memorable chants, driving horn lines and funky street-beats.

Ronnie Scott's regulars since 2013, Support for Booker T Jones (of Booker T and the MG's), Womad Festival with Cha Wa (New Orleans), London Jazz Festival, Wisselfeesten Festival Belgium, Rye International Jazz Festival, Bestival, Sidmouth Jazz Festival, Marlborough Jazz Festival, Exhibition Road Festival, Ealing Blues Festival, Pizza Express, The Blues Kitchen, South London Soul Train, Hootananny Brixton, Cargo, The Shoredtich, Pop Brixton, The Bear Club Luton, The Duke Whitstable and many more.

Having released two EP's and several singles The Big Smoke Family have garnered support from radio stations such as BBC 6, Jazz Fm, WWOZ and from New Orleans legends such as Johnny Vidakovic, George Porter Jr, Zigaboo, Donald Harrison Jr, Wendel Pierce, Galactic and many more.

The new album ' London to New Orleans' is due to be released in 2023
