The Big Smoke Family is a funk collective formed in 2012 by drummer Roy Pfeffer from a vibrant music scene in east London.

It is a group of musicians who share a passion for improvising, entertaining and groove. Over the years the band has had some fantastic residencies at places like Ronnie Scott’s, Charlie Wrights and has played memorable festivals dates at Bestival, Secret Garden Party and the London Jazz Festival. Inspired by New Orleans bands like Galactic and Trombone Shorty and UK bands like The Herbaliser and The New Mastersounds they incorporate scratch DJs, samples and synths with old school grooves, fat bass and haunting brass lines.

Electrifying performers and with credits that include Dr. John, Maceo Parker, Zigaboo, Ernest Ranglin and Joss Stone the BSF are not only some of the UK funkiest musicians but also some of the it’s most creative improvisers, meaning no two gigs are ever the same.
